OSSERVATORIO ECONOMICO: ITALIAN CHEESES CONQUER FRANCE

The latest edition of the Osservatorio Economico highlights a remarkable achievement for the Italian dairy sector: Italian cheeses are the most consumed in France.

Despite the longstanding internal competition within the dairy sector, the survey reveals a clear trend: six out of ten French consumers prefer Italian cheeses over foreign ones. Moreover, 90% of French consumers perceive Italy as the country of origin for the highest quality cheeses, further reinforcing the dominance of Made in Italy products in international markets.

This success is proved by numbers: from 2018 to 2023, Italian cheese exports to France grew by 80%, nearing one billion euros. This result leaves no doubt and establishes Italy as the leading exporter of dairy products to France.

Burrata and Stracciatella, treasures of the Apulian dairy tradition, rank among the top preferences of French foodies, with consumption exceeding 50%.

These cheeses, icons the national dairy heritage’s excellence, have experienced a true sales boom in recent years, both in Italy and abroad.

Despite being fresh cheeses and therefore highly perishable, their exports continue to grow at an unprecedented pace, highlighting their international appeal.

Burrata and Stracciatella have now become protagonists of the best Italian restaurants’ menus abroad, where they are appreciated for their delicate flavor and succulent creaminess, but above all for their undisputed quality and incredible versatility in the kitchen, making them the undisputed ingredients of a wide variety of culinary preparations.

Caseificio Ignalat is proud to have contributed for over 70 years to the success of these two jewels of the Apulian gastronomic landscape.

Every day, within our facility, master cheesemakers handcraft these milk masterpieces, following a meticulous process that respects production regulations and the finest Apulian dairy tradition, characterized by artisanal craftsmanship and meticulous attention to quality.

With their refined nuances of taste, these two cheeses have managed to establish themselves as flagship products on an international level, winning over new palates every day and solidifying Italy's reputation as a leader in the dairy sector.

The triumph of Burrata and Stracciatella in a market as competitive as the French one is not only a great source of pride for Caseificio Ignalat and all other Italian dairy producers, but also a confirmation of the value of Made in Italy products worldwide.
